I bought the limited edition “kolhapuri” chapal.
As a lifetime user of Kolhapuris, I found the product, while good, nowhere close to the original functional design and materials.
The special edition was supposed to be made from tougher hide, but the leather gives no such indication and is smooth and soft, too smooth and soft to be the tougher side. .
The strap connecting the body to the big toe needs to be way more tougher, and the same applies to the rest of the body.
Don’t get me wrong - it’s a good product that’s VERY comfortable. But it’s not what I would call a kolhapuri. It’s just not robust enough, which I’m sure time would confirm.
So this is good but it’s worth no more than Rs. 1500 but it costs Rs. 3500.
